The first week of December Tom decides to buy some Christmas themed doughnuts to eat, however this is pushed aside as listeners probably don't want to hear the boys masticating! (ah-hem!)
All hopes of a festive episode are swiftly cast aside as they realise there is nothing but death and doom in the news this week; Paul Walker, from the Fast and Furious film franchise died in an horrific car crash in North California just hours before the show was recorded, so Ant and Tom try to make their way through the sparse facts surrounding this tragic accident. A police helicopter crashes into a pub in the middle of Glasgow, Black Friday arrives in the UK and instantly sparks rioting in Belfast. Ant starts to talk about sex dolls from China being made in the appearance of little girls, but decides not to follow-up on this.
The hugest and most disgusting news from this week is the Ian Watkins, the frontman from the band Lostprophets, has pleaded guilty to 13 counts of sexual abuse. This is a dark and horrible story and the guys try to keep a lid on their feelings while reporting just the facts.
To try to get away from this nasty material Ant brings up the war being waged between motorists and cyclists across the country, he and Tom discuss from opposing sides of the argument and decide it's all the Highway Code's fault! He also puts an argument out against the Twitter row between Elan Gale (some TV producer) and the woman he got into a war of notes with on an aeroplane in America on Thanksgiving, perhaps he isn't quite the hilarious hero he thinks he is?
As a final injection of comedy, Tom makes us all aware of Scott Mills' Dating Transfer Deadline and that if you're thinking of dumping someone before Christmas, you'd better get it out-of-the-way quick so as not to look like a complete arse!
This is a tougher episode than usual, but not everything in life is funny. Look out for each other out there; 'it's better to be late in this life than early in the next.'
