The boys are back after a week off and take it upon themselves to take trolls to task after having their own run-in with one. But this proves to be a blessing in disguise as they are forced to take a look at themselves and their podcast, causing them to focus on providing you, the listener with a better quality podcast. They also make new podcasting alliances with Nerd Church and A History of Misunderstanding, who you should go and find as they are great guys!
Either side of the troll debate they talk about royal babies (Prince George, mainly) and the news coverage that went on at the time. The BBC showing a video with a graffitied picture of Prince William with a penis on his head, a Korean woman who spectacularly fails her driving test, they debate the success of YouTube’s Comedy Week and try to anticipate how their Geek Week will be received. In the ABCs Ant introduces us to a new DC villain by the name of Onomatopoeia and Tom talks about a Cohen Brothers film called O Brother, Where Art Thou?
Hello to new and old listeners alike, hope you enjoy!
This week’s podcast is a special all about when animals attack!
Tom’s interest was pricked when he saw an article about a man being killed by a beaver bite. So Ant and Tom go on a mission to find the animals you would imagine were least likely to kill you. So we find out about all manner of animals that have killed people including donkeys!
We also find out about fascinating and disgusting defence mechanisms employed by animals to evade predators, including shooting poisonous poo into the eyes of predators, a sea slug that can turn itself from solid to liquid and back again, another that can turn itself inside out and uses it’s digestive system to attack, and many more.
The basic message of this podcast is stay away from even the most docile family pet and never visit Australia, America or Hungary. You have been warned!
A very special guest visits this week, the other half – and face – of Mooli comes in to chat. Amongst many other things we get an insight into her life from not fitting in at college to her leaving her day job to become a full-time musician. It sure is a roller coaster of a tale!
This week Ant and Tom have a fairly news heavy show, covering the death of Glee actor, Cory Monteith, the riots in Belfast, the acquittal of George Zimmerman, safety in Formula 1 and the victory of Andy Murray at Wimbledon. While discussing these they try to get to the bottom on American gun laws and Irish sectarianism… nothing is resolved!
Tom quizzes Ant on weird Spring and Summer traditions in the UK, we find out what type of cheese is the best for rolling down hills, how to summon invertebrates and who would win in a race between a human and a farm animal among other strange competitions held in small UK towns and villages.
Only Ant had an ABC this week (because Tom was out on a stag do last night) and he presents a US astrophysicist, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, while we talk about him we find we are all made of stars – star children, if you will!
On this week’s show Ant & Tom discuss their changing opinions on Andy Murray and Russell Brand, to illustrate this they narrate over in interview Brand gave on American talk show Morning Joe where he takes over from the woefully band interviewers. Ant tells us about his outing to see Bon Jovi in Hyde Park at the weekend, which leads Tom to rant about the shortened televised set on the BBC of the Rolling Stone’s Glastonbury show.
Ant brings up the cheapening of Apple products, like the new iPhone, now that Steve Jobs’ ideology seems to have been forgotten, even though a biopic is being released later this year. Tom does an elongated shout out to all the people who have joined the Facebook page and begs for people to download and share the podcast with their friends. Ant talks about more YouTube channels that he subscribes to including IJustine, whose song about Google Glass ends the podcast this week, and Yogscast – which leads on to his ABC, Minecraft; the open-ended game about digging for things to make other things to battle zombies and spiders and stuff!
